Embedding Engineering Practices into High School Science Instruction (virtual)

Want to embed engineering practices into your science instruction? Want to connect science content through engineering design experiences? Session participants will advance their understanding of how to infuse their science instruction with engineering design experiences. This training will prepare 9th-12th grade educators to be ready to implement the new TEA Science TEKS approved by the SBOE in 2021 which include engineering practices.

Program Manager, Texas A&M Engineering Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach

Pam Simmons-Brooks is a STEM educator with Texas A&M Engineering/Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) on the Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach team in Workforce Development. She has extensive experience in secondary science curriculum development; science classroom instruction in middle school, high school, and college; and STEM professional development programming for educators in national, state, and local settings.

Randy Brooks

Associate Professor of Practice, Texas A&M Engineering Academies

Randy Brooks is in his sixth year as a First-Year Program Engineering Professor at Texas A&M University teaching the full 3 course sequence of foundational college engineering courses. Previously he spent 23 years in Telecom building LD, internet, and email platforms and networks followed by 8 years teaching high school PreCal and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering. He is in his second year of a PhD program focused on the student transition from secondary school to college engineering.
